Mixer Weekend: 3 Winter Inspired Cocktails

    With Blizzard Nemo hitting much of the Northeast, you might not get much of a chance to go out to the bars and clubs. Instead of venturing out into the snow, why not try these three delicious winter cocktails in the comfort of your own home.

    White Out

    A white out is perhaps one of the more terrifying experiences to go through. The stinging wind along with the low visibility has led many people to their dooms. The white out cocktail is definitely a lot tastier than an real thing, though it can still lead to low visibility and potential chaos and doom.

    Ingredients

    • 1.5 oz of Vanilla Vodka
    • 0.5 oz of white creme de cacao
    • 0.5 oz of hazelnut liqueur
    • 0.5 oz of whipping cream

    Equipment

    • Jigger
    • Cocktail shaker
    • Strainer
    • Martini glass
    • Ice

    Instructions

    1. Mix all of the liquid ingredients into the cocktail shaker then top with ice.
    2. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.
    3. Strain into martini glass and enjoy.

    Bubbly Blizzard

    There are many different types of blizzard cocktails out there, but most don’t really make me think of a winter blizzard, except for this one. And hey, if you like it, this could be your new brunch cocktail so lunch as the restaurant carries Hypnotic.

    Ingredients

    • 2 oz of champagne or sparkling wine
    • 1.5 oz of Hypnotic
    • 0.5 oz of cognac

    Equipment

    • Jigger
    • Champagne flute
    • Finely crushed blue rock candy

    Directions

    1. Rim the champagne flute with the crushed blue rock candy by wetting the inside and outside of the rim with a little cognac. Turn the glass upside down then dip it firmly into the crushed blue rock candy.
    2. Combine all ingredients into the champagne flute and enjoy.

    There’s nothing that says winter quite like icicles, so why not try an icicle cocktail? These delicious drinks are great if you’re a fan of cosmopolitans but want something that looks a little different. Great for parties or just sipping at home.

    Ingredients

    • 1.5 oz of citrus vodka
    • 0.5 oz of blue curaçao
    • 0.25 oz of cointreau
    • 1 oz of white cranberry juice
    • o.25 oz of lime juice
    • 0.5 oz of simple syrup

    Equipment

    • Jigger
    • Cocktail shaker
    • Strainer
    • Ice
    • Martini glass

    Directions

    1. Combine all the liquid ingredients into the cocktail shaker then top with ice
    2. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds
    3. Strain contents into a martini glass and enjoy.
