Nardio Manga Review
IS THE LORD MARKSMAN AND VANADIS VOL.2 WORTH YOUR TIME?
Eh. It was OK at best.
WHAT DID I THINK WITHOUT SPOILING IT?
Something was missing here. Its an OK read and nothing more. The first volume was a middling start that had more tease than substance. It was enough to make me want to know more. Volume two just kinda falls flat and leaves me wanting more and yet unwilling to pay anymore.
Lord Marksman and Vanadis Vol. 2 is missing something. Sure there are battles, and dragons and bits of interesting art scattered about, but it felt boring. For $9.99 I want more than boring. Lord Marksman and Vanadis Vol. 2 has our heroes going to war to save Tigre’s village with his former enemy by his side. The ensuing battle was so lopsided and unfair it was never engaging for me.
Besides that everything that I liked and disliked from the first volume is here. A brisk moving story that teases a larger and more interesting world. Fantasy elements that I find engaging, and even some political intrigue. Unfortunately it feels like to much time was wasted on the T&A here. It’s a shame because Lord Marksman and Vanadis could have been something special, but it seems to once again fall into the “lets not tell much of a story and fill the gaps with lots of random female flesh” genre of mangas. The bad guys here are one dimensional and obvious, the good guys get a harem, and the powers the heroes have are insane.
I wasn’t that enthused with Lord Marksman and Vanadis Vol. 1 and am less so with volume 2. I’m not sure I will pick up the third volume. The story just isn’t doing it for me and the $9.99 price tag for the digital Kindle version isn’t helping. The art here is so hit or miss I find myself ripped out of it way to often. This story is based off of a light novel and there is already a completed e is a Anime based off that, maybe I’ll check one of those mediums out. The manga is just to slow going and lowbrow for me.
I recommend checking this out at the library first before you spend your cash.
