The Nardio Review
Is It Worth Your Time?
Yes. S.E.C.R.E.T Shared is a steamy sequel to the hit erotica novel S.E.C.R.E.T.
What Did You Think Without Spoiling It?
If you’re wondering what happens with Cassie after the first book, you’ll be happy to read more about her tales. You’ll also be introduced to a new character Dauphine who ends up connecting with Cassie and joining S.E.C.R.E.T. One of the more interesting parts of the story is that you see the world from two very different point of views – Cassie’s and Dauphine’s. Both women have very different values and views so it’s interesting to get a different perspective. This is erotica so there are definitely some really steamy sex scenes here, even steamier than the first book. It’s not only about sex of course. It’s about these two women trying to discover and change themselves in a positive way.
Why it Works?
L. Marie Adeline keeps you riveted from the very moment you start the book and never lets go. Once again you’re thrust into the sexy and steamy world of S.E.C.R.E.T- where women can have their deepest fantasies realized. Light bondage? Check. FFM Threesome? Gotcha covered. There’s also a pretty decent plot going on here as well. We get to see Will and Cassie struggling against their desires for each other and we get introduced to the fiery, control-freak Dauphine. Above all though, I love the fact that the novel encourages women not to be ashamed of their sexuality and fantasies and instead embrace it. S.E.C.R.E.T Shared will keep you enthralled with all the sex, drama and, yes, even love.
Honestly, I don’t like Dauphine nearly as much as I liked Cassie. I just find her rather boring as a character. Her plot in general seems rather rushed and while she does overcome some of her fears, overall I feel like S.E.C.R.E.T Shared lacks the character depth that the first book had. We really saw Cassie grow and come into her own in the first book. Here, the sex scenes, while hot, are just merely that – sex. Yes, Dauphine learns to let go of some control, but I’m not really sure exactly what she’s learning here. There’s no revelation in each step. In addition, there’s not as much interaction between Cassie and Dauphine as I’d like. I feel like they both could learn something from each other, but their relationship is just kind of stagnant. Also, if you’re looking for some kind of resolution, you’ll be sadly disappointed. This book ends with yet another cliffhanger, so I expect there will be a third book out in another 6 months or so.
Overall, while the book doesn’t have the same amount of depth as the first, it’s still an enjoyable read. If you’re just looking for something enticing to read pick this book up. It’s a quick read and you might even decide to play out some of your own fantasies with a loved one.
