Nardio Cosplay/Picture Of The Day
AnimeNext had some insanely awesome cosplayers. Some I was able to shoot, others were so swamped with photographers and fans that I sadly missed out on. This cosplayer instantly won my heart and attention….but she was swamped. I mean crazy cray cray swamped. Her RWBY cosplay was magnificent and she owned it. I mean, owned it. The cosplay was on point. Toned arms carrying the massive gun. She was a sight to behold and it was great being able to see such a talented cosplayer getting the attention they deserved.
Fast forward a few hours and I still had no luck in getting a shot, finally, I spotted her resting a few moments and begged for a shot. Thankfully she agreed and this shot was born.
She was not what I was expecting at all. I was thinking I was going to shoot some pro cosplayer with a huge fandom and a backlog of amazing work. What I got instead was a shy first-time cosplayer who didn’t even want to be named. She was just doing it for fun and didn’t want her co-workers and friends to find out.
I was flabbergasted and thankful she made the effort to come out to the con and agreed to pose for me. She said she was OK with me posting the pic, but no name and no shots without the glasses.
You got it!
Stuff like this kills me in the best way. An amazingly talented person, cosplaying for the craft, the fun, the fandom, and the community, but not for fame. Happy to make people’s day but not eager to stand in the spotlight. She was a joy to talk to, shoot and get to know.
There are sooo very many stories like this of talented cosplayers just wanting to have a good time and leave it at that. You know what, that’s good enough for me.
Hope you like the pic!
