Warhammer 40K Darktide: The Miniatures Game

 

 

I’m a bit excited about this. A bit. Games Workshop just teased a new bookshelf game and it’s based on Warhammer 40K Darktide. I want to be excited about this, I really do but wow are GW small games hit or miss. We have masterpieces like Blitz Bowl Ultimate Edition and we have bombs like Space Marine the Board Game & Combat Arena Lair of the Beast.

Will Darktide the Miniatures game be any good?

No way to know at this point. 

 

 

Am I interested in it?

Yes. 

It looks like an interesting mix of Fireteam and Underworlds from the previews. Those are two good games. That said, on closer inspection, I’m also getting disturbing hints of Combat Arena… That is very bad. I didn’t even bother reviewing Combat Arena Lair of the Beast because it was so god awful.

All that said, nothing is in hand and I’m scrambling to find details now. Maybe I can get GW to send over an early copy.

What we do know is that there will be a lot of cool minis that I don’t already own! 4 hero minis and 20+ evil looking baddies. So far the internet is not happy that there aren’t any original sculpts for the game but I’m happy with what I’ve seen so far. I like the hilariously, out of scale selection of sculpts. It really does look like they just threw stuff in a box and you know what? I’m OK with that. The sculpts look like silly fun for At the very least it will be a sensational painting project for me.
