Nardio Game News

I’m well over 40 hours into this game, I think I killed one of the main baddies, I’d taken out at least a dozen important enemies and I still feel like I’m just scratching the surface of what Elden Ring has to offer. I also have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing next or what is going on in the story.

Check out the Elden Ring Gameplay trailer below:

OK, so my big gripe right now is the controls suck. There is an input delay for attacks, blocking, rolling and parrying….. So yea, the controls are fucked. Yet, despite the craptacular controls, I keep playing it… I’m just to drawn in by the world and curious at how strong I can become so I can brute force past these shitacular controls. I’m used to shitty controls like this since this just a reskin of Dark Souls.

I am kinda getting the hang of it, but everytime there is an important fight, I hate them. I hate them so much. I have zero idea why a game that is well over a year old has shitty controls.

Then there is the story….. It’s a mess. first, check out the “story” trailer below:

Seems deep and cool right?

No….. The story is a horribly told fucking mess. Like on every front. It seems and feels like a lazy reskin of Dark Souls and it honestly is. That said, there is a bit of new stuff mixed in but it’s hard to take in.

Here is a great video that summarizes the intro movie and makes sense of EVERYTHING not said.

Ok, after watching that, a lot more of it makes sense, but not really. It’s like getting a decent summery of a really bad book. Like, why is the intro experience made to be so bad story wise? You get chucked in, see a bunch of random things and get kinda pointed in the right direction then kicked into the world. From there, I am just running around killing stuff, getting stronger, being told a bunch of stuff that makes next to no sense and moving on.

Elden Ring is a solo hack and slash action role playing game that just so happens to be a beautiful mess. Right now I am powering through with a strength build with a scythe and a shield. It’s a mess but it’s a doable mess.

I don’t get all of the praise for this game, but I find myself enjoying it for the most part. Also, when it feels like doing it, it can be a gorgeous game. Like it really feels next gen for me. Seeing as I got an Xbox Series X last Christmas I’m delighted to finally play a game on it that looks this good. Hopefully I can get some more next gen goodies like this after I beat this game.

That said, I don’t see myself beating Elden Ring any time soon.

Elden Ring is a frustrating mess. In horribly unintuitive and I need to look stuff up online to try and figure out basic things…

Yet, I’m in love with it.

Yep, here I am fully committed for another broken relationship…..

Best,
